Elu, Rosh Hashanah, A Time to Mourn, Northfield, DL Moody

To those who read my blog, Jonathan Frizz recently sent this email to me about what he is doing, the month of consecration leading up to Rosh Hashanah & the date for the next gathering at Northfield/DL Moody's home in MA.

Wisdom Way—getting organized and our new name

At the meeting we agreed on "Wisdom Way" as a name for the 501c3 we are in the process of incorporating. Wisdom Way will include the 10 Days of Prayer, A Time to Mourn, and eventually a permanent House of Prayer and equipping/educational ministries. We are starting small but leaving room for the various gifts and ministries that God may bring under the Wisdom Way umbrella. The incorporation papers should be turned into the IRS by October at the latest. This will allow us to receive tax-deductible donations very soon and also gives us an organizational shape. Our goal in all of these things is to bring the New England Church to her first love and equip the entire Body to "love one another" as Christ has loved us—the unity of the faith that we so earnestly desire.

We chose the name "Wisdom Way" for several reasons. First of all, it is one of the roads on the way to David's house. Last December at our first planning meeting, Josiah made a point of saying, "This (the 10 days) is the Way of Wisdom". That really stuck with me at the time. Our goal is to intentionally prepare the Church to fulfill John 17:20-23 and Ephesians 5:27—to be presented to Him "perfected in unity" and "holy and blameless" when He returns. We realize that we have a really long way to go, but setting our eyes on that goal, we are planning seasonal, rhythmic times of seeking Him that will keep us focused on our first love and give Him time and space to draw us further into the reality of His love. This is Wisdom—intentionally seeking Him first and intentionally resting and working for cultural changes in the Church that will bring all of us "into the unity of the faith, the fullness of stature that belongs to Christ", who "fills all things"! (quoting from Ephesians).

The Month of Elul—30 Days of Preparation, Sept 1st -29th

We also agreed to issue an invitation to consecration, especially to those who are planning on participating in A Time to Mourn this fall. In Jewish tradition, the month before the days of Awe (the 6th month "Elul") is set aside to prepare for the day of Trumpets (Sept 29) and the Day of Atonement (Oct 9). Together with the 10 days of awe, this makes a lovely, biblical period of 40 consecrated days. The theme of the month of Elul is "I am my beloved's, and He is mine", from the Song of Songs. The idea here is simple: because the fall feasts speak of the coming judgment of God (Jesus' second coming), get intimate with Him now, before it's too late. We want to invite you to set aside the month of September (Sept 1-29) to prepare for A Time to Mourn on this theme: "I am my beloved's, and He is mine". I will send another email out just before Sept 1 to remind and give further guidance.

Final Planning Meeting: Monday, Sept 15

Our final planning meeting will be held at the Moody house at Northfield on Monday Sept, 15. It will begin at 10:00 and end at 3:00. If you are coming from this side of the state, please contact me regarding car-pool options. Also, please bring your own lunch, although if I know Ethel, she will have plenty of PB&J for all.

If you have never been to one of the planning meetings, but would like to get involved, you are more than welcome to join us. Come expecting to meet with the Lord in an intimate time of prayer and worship right in DL Moody's living room! We'll also discuss the logistical and strategic aspects of A Time to Mourn, and you will probably leave with some kind of an assignment. Also, expect to have fun since the Joy of the Father always seems to infect us during these meetings—as the Proverbs say, "All the 'Ways of Wisdom' are pleasant." May it be so for us.

Details, Details…

We are still accepting applicants for A Time to Mourn. Our registration process is relational, please send me an email at 10daysofprayer@gmail.com and we'll get things underway.

NMH has really blessed us and we will be renting Hibbard Hall again this fall. Also, the New England Solemn Assembly that we will attend on October 4 will be held in Weymouth, MA at Harvest Ministries from 2pm-6pm. We will carpool from Northfield to Weymouth.

Churches and Synagogues: During the nights of Sept 30-Oct 3 and Oct 5-7, (7 nights total) we are inviting local pastors and congregations to fast a day with us at home and then come out as a church to Hibbard for our evening worship starting at 7:00pm. We are hoping that 7 local churches will join us during these nights at Northfield.

If you are a pastor and would like to participate, please email me. If you want your church to be involved, please contact your pastor. If you know of churches that might be interested, please email me.

Also, if you have Jewish friends, this is a great way to connect with them. In fact, we are hoping to have one Rabbi come and speak during the 10 days. Think of it, what if part of God's purpose in calling for A Time to Mourn is to reach out to the Jewish community.

I suppose that is enough for right now. As always, I thank you for reading and bearing with lots and lots of text in an age of images. I hope to write again before the end of the week to get us off on the right foot for the month of Elul starting on Sept 1. Please pray for our family as we make these preparations.

Much love in Christ,

Jonathan Friz

PS Announcements:

This Friday, August 29, there will be a Beverly-Salem wide prayer meeting from 8-midnight at the Bridge Church in the Cummings Center. This prayer meeting promises to be a quarterly "fifth Friday" prayer meeting just like what has been happening in New Hampshire (go to www.newhampshirealliance.us to read more about the amazing history and promising future of "fifth Fridays") This is yet another example of the unprecedented number of prayer and worship gatherings that God has been sovereignly calling for this year. Please contact Sara De Baere, a faithful sister and mighty woman of God, at saradebaere@gmail.com with questions. Please see that attached flyer.

Tachyons, physics & the Bible???????

David Van Koevering: "Keys to Taking Your Quantum Leap"
By David Van Koevering
Aug 16, 2008

Years ago, as a young scientist and inventor, I worked with Dr. Bob Moog and together we gave the music world the first performance keyboards called Moog synthesizers. I learned to work with electrons and photons - tiny elements that are so small they can't be seen! Yet these invisible elements cause all electronic devices to work. This project caused me to ask the question, "Is there more to our universe than what I can perceive through my senses?"

My search to learn more about physical reality and how it works led me to discover that quantum physics identifies a large part of our universe to be non-physical. I began to realize that the universe is greater than science has discovered, or can explain. Through quantum physics and spiritual revelation, the Holy Spirit confirmed keys to understanding physical reality. As you read this article, allow the Holy Spirit to let you hear more than I say.

There is a Non-Physical Reality

My studies in quantum mechanics led me to the works of Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, and others. Here I learned that everything we see is part of a vast ocean of infinitesimally small subatomic particles. Under certain conditions, these subatomic structures also take on the properties of invisible waves. When I learned that these waves, or particles which make up all matter, cause that matter to blink into existence by being observed by the experimenter, I was shaken to my core.

How could it be that these invisible elements, which make up all matter, can be changed from particles to waves by how they are observed? This reality is beyond our human consciousness and our five senses. Or is it? All of these particles and/or waves appear to be connected. How can it be that every atomic and subatomic element is hooked up? Is this invisible world a part of the spiritual realm?

I suppose the duality of matter being waves or particles and how quantum mechanics attempts to explain this revolutionary idea changed me forever. It caused me to do my own research, which led to the convergence of quantum mechanics and my personal spiritual revelation. I was about to take a quantum leap!

1 Corinthians 1:28 says, "...God (has) chosen...things which are not (the invisible) to bring to nought things which are (the visible)." This Scripture makes sense only when you understand it at the atomic and subatomic level. Everything is made up of atoms, which are frequencies of energy. These frequencies of energy are the voice of Jesus causing all things to be! Atoms are made up of subatomic particles, and subatomic particles are made up of superstrings (which are toroidal vortices of energy). Superstrings are tiny donut shaped packets of energy that spin at a frequency - or sing as in a pitch.

None of this is real in this dimension because they exist only in a state of possibilities until someone observes them. Then, at that observation, the potential becomes a thing - a particle or a wave. This quantum wave collapse, caused by observation, is called popping a qwiff. This is your first step to taking a quantum leap. You can see or observe a God qwiff (something God shows you that is not yet real in this dimension) and, by observing or popping that qwiff, cause that potential to become your reality. Be careful what you see; you are going to get it! Be careful what you say; you will get that, too!

Light is Slowing Down

The spiritual realm operates above the speed of light. The physical realm - this dimension - has been shaped to its current limits by the falls of both Lucifer (see Luke 10:18) and man in the Garden of Eden (see Genesis 3:7). When man fell, the speed of light slowed down. In the beginning, when God spoke the universe into existence, His entire bandwidth of glory was made physical. From His glory (all frequencies) and His voice (all frequencies expressed) all light, energy, and matter became.

It is believed that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Physicist Barry Setterfield, mathematician Trevor Norman, and Canadian mathematician Alan Montgomery have measured light and proven that the speed of light is slowing down.

That means that light may have been ten to thirty percent faster in the time of Christ; twice as fast in the days of Solomon; and four times as fast in the days of Abraham. My friend Chuck Missler says, "That would imply that the velocity of light was more than ten million times faster prior to 3,000 B.C. This possibility would also alter our concepts of time and the age of the universe. The universe might actually be less than 10,000 years old!" That sounds like a quantum leap to me!

Before the fall, God had created one realm from gravity waves to His glory. This present human realm is up through the electromagnetic spectrum to the speed of light. The interesting point about the speed of light slowing down is that when Lucifer (the bearer of light) rebelled in Heaven and was cursed and cast down - and I believe cast down from the frequencies of God's glory - he lost his bandwidth and fell down from his spiritual consciousness. In the Garden of Eden, when mankind sinned, was cursed in the fall downward, and lost upper bandwidth and spiritual consciousness, light slowed down even more.

Other Biblical events suggest that the cosmos lost bandwidth. Noah's flood is such an example. Light slowed down to cause just the right frequencies for the rainbow (see Genesis 9:12-17). At Nimrod's Tower of Babel, mankind lost the upper bandwidth to communicate (see Genesis 11:7).

Jesus Himself told His disciples that they will get their upper bandwidth back. In John 16:13 He said, "..when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth...and He will show you things to come." Jesus is saying, "I want to show you your future. You can know My will and My plan for your life, although right now, you don't have the upper bandwidth to see or observe it. But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will give you the upper bandwidth to see things to come!"

Here is a quantum leap for someone: If you know something coming from your future, let's say a vision, a revelation, a desire, or even a creative idea, that information has to move faster than the speed of light to reach you. You can and must know your God-given assignment. Information flowing from your future possibilities is waiting for you to see - to observe - and call those things that are not as though they are. The quantum leap of knowing your purpose and assignment is waiting as a God qwiff for you to pop!

Matter is Frequency Being Spoken by Jesus

When God spoke and all the frequencies of His glory became manifest, the cosmos became! From the tiniest vibrating superstring that is causing or singing the atoms that make up the table of 103 elements, all the way through everything the Hubble telescope sees, are the vibrating frequencies of Jesus' voice.

Colossians 1:16-17 says, "For by Him all things were created that are in Heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible... He is before all things, and in Him all things consist (exist or are sustained)." The phrase "He is before all things" means that He is outside of our time. Jesus said to John the Revelator that He was and is the Alpha (beginning) and Omega (ending). Jesus is outside our concept of time in His eternal now and is causing all things to be.

When we consider creation and all things eternal, our false concepts regarding time and matter limit our understanding. Receive the concept that Jesus is outside of our time and calendar, looking in. He is observing. He is sustaining all things in this nanosecond (one billionth of a second) and is singing the frequencies or vibrations of your body. If He didn't, you would dissolve! Your electrons, particles, and subatomic structures are blinking in and out of existence. You think you are a solid object, but quantum mechanics has confirmed that all subatomic particles - the stuff you are made of - are blinking in and out of this reality.

Enoch was walking so closely with God in the Spirit that "he was not, for God took him" (see Genesis 5:24). Jesus simply stopped blinking Enoch into this realm! How close are you to Jesus Christ? How far away is your healing, your deliverance, or your miracle? He is close, for in Him you live and move and have your being.

In the next nanosecond, He sustains you or sings your frequency set. Understand that your healing or miracle is within the next nanosecond! In the blink of a nanosecond, He can cause your healing. Observe your healing, your miracle, your deliverance, and be filled with all Truth by observing the future God has for you. Take that quantum leap!

When we understand that we are being created in Christ by His causing, or by Him singing our song, our intimacy with Him will change. His song of creation was not something He did 16 billion years ago. He is causing you now! Because the speed of light has slowed down, because we have our upper bandwidth back, and because He is sustaining us every nanosecond, the act of creation is happening now! Take your quantum leap into His eternal now.

All Matter Has Memory - Your Words are Being Recorded

As a scientist and inventor, I have developed various memory retrieval systems. In the 1970s, I developed a laser optical music system to store sounds on silver oxide film and play the sounds back with keyboards, using modulated light beams. I was amazed when I found the Scripture in Joshua 24:27 that says, "And Joshua said unto all the people, 'Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which He spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest you deny your God.'"

Was this Old Testament quantum physicist saying that matter has memory? Is this man, who called for and observed the sun standing still in the heavens, telling us that the stone is listening? This is the man who sounded a frequency that cancelled the frequencies of matter in the walls of Jericho, thereby dissolving their atomic lattice structure with his shout and song. Did this man say the rocks are listening?

Jesus said the same thing. Joshua said the stone could record, and Jesus said in Luke 19:40 that the stones would cry out. Habakkuk 2:11 says, "For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it." I came to understand that all matter has memory. The Bible says that matter can record and it will play back. How can these things be?

As I studied both quantum theory and Scripture, revelation came. I learned that Gerald Feinberg, a physicist at Columbia University, named a certain subatomic particle, that he found in Einstein's math, after the Greek word tachys, meaning "swift." He called this superluminal particle a tachyon. This particle moved faster than light!

The tachyon is not looked upon favorably by physicists. If tachyons can be proven to exist and anything that moves faster than light can be found, scientists will have to explain how something can appear before its cause. For instance, if a scientific test was set up to look for this elusive faster-than-light tachyon, and the computer started at 12:00 noon counting forward through the test sequence, the test result wouldn't be at 12:01 or later. It would show the effect before the cause at 11:59 or earlier. Scientists don't have computers that count backwards and don't accept results that appear before the cause.

But wait. Two thirds of your Bible got to mankind before the event or cause! All prophecy is the result of facts before the event. All creativity comes before the actual physical reality! What is a vision? What is a word of knowledge? It is seeing, knowing, getting information before the causation. There is no other source of creativity than the Holy Spirit. All truth comes to man through the only source of truth we have, and that is the Holy Spirit. When you see your future, you are getting information faster than the speed of light through a means of streaming superluminal particles. The barrier of light speed is bridged from this subluminal realm to the higher bandwidth of the superluminal realm by the Holy Spirit.

Something like Gerald Feinberg's tachyon exists in all matter. It is just above, or faster than the speed of light. We know it's there because we find the results of such in the very fact of prophecy, or in the concept of words of knowledge, and even our Bible itself. These are proofs that the potential and possibilities of future promises or information is flowing to us. The superluminal tachyon-like connector exists!

That faster-than-light particle in all matter receives and remembers or records photons that shine on matter as in the photoelectric effect. Modulated photons go into all matter, reside in the vortex of superluminal faster-than-light particles, and knock electrons out. This photoelectric effect is how my modulated light musical instruments worked in the 1970s. That is how CD players and DVD players work now.

Today, it is not difficult to believe that matter has memory, because most of us have tiny memory sticks or memory cards that record or store information from our cameras and computers. Information flowing into matter and recalling it is commonplace. Photons from all light sources reflect from your body and off your belongings. Those information carrying photons go into all matter, including walls, your ring, and your watch. This information - even what we say and think - is modulating or moving through the connectedness of all atomic structures. This modulated photon goes in and electrons come out. That is why Joshua said, "This stone has heard." Every word, action, and deed done in the flesh has been recorded.

This is where yesterday went! It is all recorded in matter and will someday be played back. This is how evil and curses reside in places or things. Even though matter has recorded everything, your prayer in the name of Jesus can take the effect of Christ's blood - His blood that is eternal and beyond time - and cancel out all evil, sin, and past sin's memory from matter. Oh, that is a quantum leap for many! You can speak to and erase from places all curses and evil in Jesus' name.

Have you fixed your past? Have you removed all curses? Have you blessed the things you own? Have you blessed your house, office, car, belongings, money, computer, and phone? Are those things and places free from your past actions, words, and thoughts? You or someone else can speak a blessing or curse on your things. Somebody is about to take a quantum leap!

Seeing Your Future as God Sees it is Quantum Faith

Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is the substance. It is the invisible substance from which your physical world was and is being created by Jesus Christ. Annette Capps said, "God used faith substance and word energy to create the universe. He spoke and the vibration (sound) of His words released (caused) the substance that became the stars and planets."

God's future potential and all the promised possibilities constantly flow through the Holy Spirit into you. Noise on my circuit limits my ability to hear His voice and see His future for me. The noise in my inner man is not always sin; my noise can be my gift, my ability, even that special way I am put together and wired. I can become so busy-noisy that I am out of phase with God's voice and vision for me.

As I get quiet and become still, I can hear and see what God's future is for my reality. Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still and know that I am God..." My future comes from God's possibilities and potential. I pop God's qwiffs and my reality is! What an awesome quantum leap!

Creating Protected Places: Is Your Home Protected?

When we understand that matter has memory and that every good or evil action, word, or thought is recorded, it is our responsibility to remove, purge, and release evil memory. I'm also talking about evil memory that came to you through things you inherited. What about evil acts and words that were spoken over you? Or evil artifacts that are in many homes and places? Imagine what evil is recorded in public places, courthouses, jails, even schools, and the stuff in these places!

The Passover in the book of Exodus, chapter 12, is the story of a protected place. The blood of the Passover lamb was not put on the firstborn child. It was not applied to a person. Rather, the blood was put on the side posts and upper door posts of a place. Anoint your home, your office, your car, even public places in the name of Jesus. The Passover was an event where the children of God looked forward to their Messiah and His blood for deliverance and protection. By anointing your places and belongings with oil in the name of Jesus, you can protect them and connect our Savior's timeless blood over your places. What a quantum leap!

Elsewhen Teaching: Where Yesterday Went and Tomorrow Comes From

Elsewhen is the title of my book. This is an interesting word. Elsewhere means over there, or a place out of town, or out there somewhere. Elsewhen is your consciousness out of time here and into God's upper bandwidth of cosmic consciousness. It is to disconnect from things of this realm and become connected to ideas, visions, and input that comes directly from your Savior, Designer, and Creator.

Elsewhen is the experience of knowing without having to learn or push yourself to know. It is to so behold Jesus Himself, that you comprehend the root of wisdom through the Holy Spirit.

You herein have come to understand that there is a non-physical reality from which this universe and everything in it flows. Jesus Himself is causing your body, your spirit, and everything you have to blink into your reality. Light is slowing down and there is upper bandwidth and knowledge through the Holy Spirit. All the things of life and their purpose for you and your assignment are frequencies being spoken by Christ Himself at this very nanosecond.

Matter has memory, and you can change everything that has been recorded by what you observe, by the words you declare, or by the curses you remove and release in the name of Jesus. You can create protected places by anointing with oil and speaking blessings with your words of faith. Where will you start? What quantum leaps have come up in your spirit? You have been given a new elsewhen cosmic consciousness. Pop those God qwiffs and cause upper bandwidth to change your reality.

THE PULSE CHICAGO Jeff Reid :)

Happy 1-Year Anniversary

The Pulse: Chicago

The 1st year ~ WooHoo!
Last year on this day we were gathering for a beautiful evening with Brennan Manning and Phil Keaggy.

It's gonna be a great summer!!

June 28th ~ The Pulse: Africa (here in Chicago!)
An afternoon with The Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda, and the modern dance company Labco, from Pittsburgh. Plus, involvement from local artists, dancers and musicians.
It'll be a chance to pause the summer, and turn toward Africa and her children.
These kids have literally been rescued from a doomed life as child -soldiers (as chronicled in the documentary, The Invisible Children).
We'll get to welcome them to Chicago, and, shower them with tons of love.
We'll also have other suprizes thoughout the summer.

And... this October, we'll be hosting the 1st annual Pulse Festival.
2 days & 3 nights of performances, worship, prayer, workshops, and masterclasses. Featuring artists both local and national.

Hope you are all well.

Polish Shoah (Holocaust) Heroine dies at age 98

Irena Sendler — credited with saving some 2,500 Jewish children from the Nazi Holocaust by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto, some of them in baskets — died Monday, her family said. She was 98.

Sendler, among the first to be honored by Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial as a Righteous Among Nations for her wartime heroism, died at a Warsaw hospital, daughter Janina Zgrzembska told The Associated Press.

President Lech Kaczynski expressed "great regret" over Sendler's death, calling her "extremely brave" and "an exceptional person." In recent years, Kaczynski had spearheaded a campaign to put Sendler's name forward as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sendler was a 29-year-old social worker with the city's welfare department when Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II. Warsaw's Jews were forced into a walled-off ghetto.

Seeking to save the ghetto's children, Sendler masterminded risky rescue operations. Under the pretext of inspecting sanitary conditions during a typhoid outbreak, she and her assistants ventured inside the ghetto — and smuggled out babies and small children in ambulances and in trams, sometimes wrapped up as packages.

Teenagers escaped by joining teams of workers forced to labor outside the ghetto. They were placed in families, orphanages, hospitals or convents.

Records show that Sendler's team of about 20 people saved nearly 2,500 children from the Warsaw Ghetto between October 1940 and its final liquidation in April 1943, when the Nazis burned the ghetto, shooting the residents or sending them to death camps.

"Every child saved with my help and the help of all the wonderful secret messengers, who today are no longer living, is the justification of my existence on this earth, and not a title to glory," Sendler said in 2007 in a letter to the Polish Senate after lawmakers honored her efforts in 2007.

In hopes of one day uniting the children with their families — most of whom perished in the Nazis' death camps — Sendler wrote the children's real names on slips of paper that she kept at home.

When German police came to arrest her in 1943, an assistant managed to hide the slips, which Sendler later buried in a jar under an apple tree in an associate's yard. Some 2,500 names were recorded.

"It took a true miracle to save a Jewish child," Elzbieta Ficowska, who was saved by Sendler's team as a baby in 1942, recalled in an AP interview in 2007. "Mrs. Sendler saved not only us, but also our children and grandchildren and the generations to come.

"

Anyone caught helping Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland risked being summarily shot, along with family members — a fate Sendler only barely escaped herself after the 1943 raid by the Gestapo.

The Nazis took her to the notorious Pawiak prison, which few people left alive. Gestapo agents tortured her repeatedly, leaving Sendler with scars on her body — but she refused to betray her team.

"I kept silent. I preferred to die than to reveal our activity," she was quoted as saying in Anna Mieszkowska's biography, "Mother of the Children of the Holocaust: The Story of Irena Sendler.

"

Zegota, an underground organization helping Jews, paid a bribe to German guards to free her from the prison. Under a different name, she continued her work.

After World War II, Sendler worked as a social welfare official and director of vocational schools, continuing to assist some of the children she rescued.

"A great person has died — a person with a great heart, with great organizational talents, a person who always stood on the side of the weak," Warsaw Ghetto survivor Marek Eldeman told TVN24 television.

In 1965, Sendler became one of the first so-called Righteous Gentiles honored by the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem for wartime heroics. Poland's communist leaders at that time would not allow her to travel to Israel; she collected the award in 1983.

Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev said Sender's "courageous activities rescuing Jews during the Holocaust serve as a beacon of light to the world, inspiring hope and restoring faith in the innate goodness of mankind.

"

Despite the Yad Vashem honor, Sendler was largely forgotten in her homeland until recent years. She came to the world's attention in 2000 when a group of schoolgirls from Uniontown, Kan., wrote a short play about her called "Life in a Jar.

"

It went on to garner international attention, and has been performed more than 200 times in the United States, Canada and Poland.

Sendler, born Irena Krzyzanowska, said she lived according to her physician father's teachings, arguing that "people can be only divided into good or bad; their race, religion, nationality don't matter.

"

She married Mieczyslaw Sendler but they divorced after the war's end. Sendler then married fellow underground activist Stefan Zgrzembski, and they had two sons and a daughter. One died a few days after birth. The second son, Adam, died of a heart failure in 1999.

Sendler is survived by her daughter and a granddaughter.

5 ways to help a grieving friend or family member

I copied this from the THE GARDEN A CENTER FOR GRIEVING CHIKLDREN & TEENS web site today. The kids & I have participated in this support group since January & it has been extremely helpful.
Five things to help a grieving friend

1. Acknowledge What Has Happened
Say something ("I am so sorry about your loss"), write something (a card or a note means a great deal), do something (a kind gesture or helpful deed is always welcome). (And I would add: please be sure that if you have offered to do something for the person or be with them in some capacity that you really follow through. This is not a time to say things that you can't follow through on. perhaps promise less? do more?)

2. Listen, Listen, Listen
Make time to be with the friend and listen to their thoughts and feelings. Don't ever assume that you know what they are going through. Just let them know that you are there for them to listen and care.

3. Accept the Other as He or She Is
Don't try to offer advice on how the person should act or feel. If the person seems different, remember that THEY ARE. Something big has happened to them.

4. Offer to Help, and Make Your Offers Specific
Don't just say, "I am here for you." Tell the person HOW you are here for them. Examples are: "I will get the homework assignments for you," or "I will check in on how you are doing everyday this week, ok?" or "I want to sit with you at lunch for awhile until you are feeling better."

5. Relate to the Other as a Whole Person
No one wants to be seen as a victim all the time. Remember that the person is more than what they have lost. To forget who the person is will not help their recovery. To forget that they have had a sad thing happen, will make them feel invisible. So try to keep both things in mind.

GRIEF IS A CONTINUAL PROCESS. WHAT MIGHT ASSIST YOU?

TALKING
GETTING INVOLVED IN SCHOOL AND OTHER ACTIVITIES
HAVING TIME ALONE CRYING
WRITING DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS
BEING WITH FRIENDS
EATING HUGGING SCREAMING PRAYING
HELPING OTHERS GETTING COUNSELING
JOINING A SUPPORT GROUP
EXERCISING
LISTENING TO MUSIC

A Garden Party/Tribute to Bobby Invitation

You are invited to Square Foot Gardening Party: A New Start
Saturday May 10, 2008
Beginning at 10:00am
At the home of Mimi, Michael & Hadassah Caban
opensoaks@juno.com

Bobby was born on May 10, 1957. He would have been 51 years old this year. Anticipating that this day may be a difficult one for myself & the kids, I’ve decided to honor his life with something that will bring life continually: create a small garden in our yard.

I’ve chosen the square foot gardening method because it seems so incredibly easy (something Bobby would have loved!), it’s something Michael & Hadassah can participate in & something that can be added to as the seasons go by.

I once held a garden party in Milford MA to celebrate coming through some very difficult seasons of life. Folks came with plants & gardening tools & smiles & we dug & created something wonderful & lasting.

This time there’s no digging involved! BUT I would love you all to come & pitch in. I especially need a few folks with a little more experience than me (none) in building a 4 X 4 frame for each garden section. Two at the most.

This is the list of specific items we will need on May 10th:

food to share for cooking out
drinks
tables & chairs for out side
wood: 8 pieces of 4 foot 2 X 6 inch boards
12 pieces of 6 foot wood lath boards
weed cloth: 2 pieces a bit larger than a 4 foot by 4 foot area
wood screws
a power drill to borrow
large coarse thread deck crews
6 cubic feet compost made of 5 different types of compost: we can mix it here
6 cubic feet of peat moss
6 cubic feet of vermiculite
your hammer
seeds & plants: I prefer organic NON GMO of veggies, flowers, herbs & things that attract butterflies. A different type of seed or plant will be grown in each square foot section of the gardens. There will be 32 sections total if we build 2 frames. Enough for our family to enjoy & for Michael to set up a little roadside farmstand to sell flowers, tomatoes, herbs etc :)
garden gloves

because this is such a specific list, I will need to know what you are bringing if anything so I can check it off of my list :) Thanks! I really hope those of you who read this can come :) Mimi

Home again & other exciting news....

hello everyone: i am actually typing this from my home in huntington :) the kids & i arrived around midnight last night. the first sound i heard when i openeed the van door was the sound of our river across the street. what a joyful sound. it made me happy.

my beautiful housesitter & her doggies were here & i got to say goodbye to them this morning. what a gift from God she is to me.

dad is well on his way to feeling great! as far as i know he attended the opera "Aida" in pittsburgh friday night. my sister & her dance company performed in it as well. AMAZING! i was able to take Hadassah to the dress rehearsal for free (TIX are normally close to $200 each) Hadassah was also able to attend a Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre rehearsal & meet a world famous photographer whose husband just happens to be a film director who is making the movie "The Road" with Vigo Mortensen & Charlize Theron in Pittsburgh.

my van cost about $1000 over the past 10 days but now everything from the front brakes to the alternator (which blew out last friday on our way across pennsylvania!) to the front tires & other things have been replaced or fixed.

i had a very fruitful time in east stroudsburg PA on friday - monday with bob & susan young who love michael & hadassah like their own kids. bob & i finished the recording for my sampler CD, rehearsed for our upcoming Emerald Vein www.emeraldvein.com concert May 17th in Stroudsburg PA at the Shawnee Playhouse. I sang & ministered at a local coffee house friday night & then sang & taught at their new worship & arts gathering "The Alabaster Box" on saturday night. if you're a soaker & live within 5 hours of them, COME! I will be going down there on a regular basis to come alongside of what God is doing there at the AB. every saturday night at 7PM. no agenda other than to seek & worship God & release His kingdom love & creativity....everywhere. all the time.

I can see blue skies....nothing but blue skies (as irving king sang over me many years ago :) & i feel a sense of hope today.

i am so grateful for the time to be with my father & family during his surgeries & afterward. I have peace that he is going to continue to do well & regain strength (and weight :). the time with him, my mom & stepdad, sister, brother, "sister" & nephews & niece was a gift to me. as well as the time with Pastor Phil & Lois Roland & old friends at the Sheepfold in Sharon, PA who held a beautiful seder on the night that would have been Jesus' last meal with his friends before He was crucified. It was living water for my soul.

CD PROJECT: the last things I need to do are to create the cover & cd label & then have 500 copies made. This cd is a sampler & a thank you note to the many people who have loved us over the past 9 months. as well as something that i will sell wherever i sing, teach, minister. If you would like to contribute financially or creatively to help complete this project let me know.

EMERALD VEIN CONCERT: May 17th 8PM Shawnee Playhouse Stroudsburg PA This concert will be "...in praise and wonder of the Great Architect of the Universe" & will be a reunion of EV band members Bob Young, bassist Tony Green & myself as well as Susan Young (vocalist & dancer) & the Young children (think Libera) Jeff Reid & others (maybe Hadassah will grace us with her presence too!). This will be a lush sonic, visual & spiritual experience for your eyes & ears & heart. Tickets are $12 each. Families of 3 or more will pay a total of $25. The theatre seats only 200 people & we hope it will fill up. This is the first time we have all been together since about 1992??? We will be playing some of the original Emerald Vein music as as well several of my original songs & other new music. I am so excited about this event. (It's also one week after Bobby's birthday. Somehow that is significant to me.) I hope you can ALL be there. Stroudsburg is right new the PA/NJ border & only a 3 hour drive for me from Huntington. It's near the Poconos & a very nice area for bed & breakfasts & other touristy things as well as a large train museum area!

www.emeraldvein.com new web site with a few songs posted as of right now......

let me know you're alive & well if i haven't been in touch for awhile...i love you all with an everlasting love, mimi

My sister Spehanie Thiel to perform in "Aida" with Pittsburgh Opera Company

Stephanie & other professional dancers will be in the upcoming production of the Verdi opera "Aida". She may even have to dance with a live snake!!! The production does up at the end of March through the beginning of April & should be spectacular musically & visually. (Live animals on stage :) More later as i get the details.

Update on my Dad...

I have not been able to post updates to this blog via my PDA. I don't know why but I can't log in. My father is at his home & we had a week together at his place. He is improving each day. Hadassah has been very sick this past week but has seen doctors & is now on antibiotics. Thank you to everyone who reads this & who has been praying for us. We are still in Pennsylvania, have scheduled an "Open Soak" in the Cincinati area on March 15th (the ides of March :) & will most likely be in Pittsburgh Monday of next week trying to get a tour of the high school of performing arts where my niece attends as well as reconnect with some folks that I met who are making a major movie in Pittsburgh. Interesting times, these are. Love to you all.

Pray for miracles of healing, open doors that no man can shut, joy in the journey for us all......I love all of you who take the time to read these updates. You are in my heart AND thank you to the "anonymous giver" who paid for my recent furnace repair bill. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Love, Mimi & the kids

Ten days of Prayer in historic Northfield, MA

(Bobby & I led worship for part of this last year :) This year it is on what would have been his 51st birthday.

Announcing the 10 Days of Prayer, Northfield—May 1-11th 2008

Acts 1:4 “And gathering them together He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father. . .”

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Have you ever wondered, “What would happen if Christians just dropped everything and sought God’s face with one mind?” How would Christ respond to this united outpouring of love from His Bride?

Before the first Pentecost, Jesus commanded His followers “to wait for the promise of the Father.” The first believers were faithful to Jesus’ command and waited together “with one mind, continually devoting themselves to prayer” over a span of 10 days. When the day of Pentecost came, the Holy Spirit filled those who had gathered and the Church of Jesus Christ was born.

God desires this Church, born on Pentecost Sunday, to “grow into a holy temple”, a dwelling place for God Himself (Eph 2:22). One of the biggest obstacles to God’s plan is the busyness and worldly preoccupation of the Church. In order for God to get what He wants, it is essential for us to agree with God, to give Christ the attention He deserves, to hand over our “precious time”, and embrace rest in the new wineskins that God has introduced for this season.

Today, at this crucial hour in history, God has raised up the largest prayer movement in history, the Global Day of Prayer, which has gathered over 200 million for prayer each Pentecost since 2005 (www.globaldayofprayer.com). As a part of this global movement, God is also calling many in New England to follow His first disciples and consecrate the 10 days before Pentecost to seek his face (www.10days.net ).

In the fall of 2006, God said to me: “Call 120 to pray for the 10 days leading up to Pentecost”. Providentially, God confirmed His word by sending 122 people over the course of the first 10 Days Northfield. 15 prayer missionaries prayed and stayed the entire 10 days, experiencing the presence of God and the unity of the Spirit in living Christian community. As one participant said, “There was a degree of unity in Christ that I did not realize was possible before heaven.” We all sensed God’s pleasure in the gathering, and God’s joy overflowed into miracles and sweet fellowship among the Saints.

It is my joy to invite you to join us in seeking God’s face at Northfield from May 1-11, 2008. Please visit our website (www.10days.net ) to see video and written testimony about last year and also to register, donate, or find out more about the 10 Days. We hope to meet you at Northfield this year.

In Holy Expectation,

Jonathan Friz

New prose about Bobby by Sandy (Pasqualone) Cooper

the tattered and torn
the ones God adorns
with his mercy
if all could see into the broken like he
this world would be filled with all his lovelies
few understand, the angels we toil with
they teach us the lessons our spirits need
but oh how cold this world is to our imperfect lovelies
they tear them to shreds with the judgements and careless ways
oh teach us dear God to walk and sit with your imperfect lovelies
so we too can be all we were meant to be
no not that we are better or finer gold then anyone else
just let us truly love and sit and lay with the imperfect just like me.
give us your heart and eyes to see,and listen to the wisdom they have to teach.
let us love each others' imperfections before it is too late, and they go with you and leave us to fate.

I memorized his face....

Written by Mimi Caban
February 13, 2008
(please do not copy or distribute without the author’s written permission)

I memorized his face the day he died
when he was still warm & soft & Bob
I took my time
I lingered there
alone
in the ER
alone with him
soft & warm & still
I closed my eyes & memorized his face with my hands
with my fingers
the roundness of his cheeks
the softness of his skin
the depressions under his beautiful brown eyes
from lack of sleep
so much excitement & work
leading up to that day
that day
I lingered there
alone
they let me have time
if I had more time
I would memorize every facet of the man
I called lover friend warrior opponent friend mine us ours always
it was supposed to be always
not now
not like this
I think I kissed him that day
I hope I did
before he was soft & warm & still
before he was gone
I remember his arm around me in that store
the store I can’t even look at anymore
how can a store have that power over me
over us
a parking lot
asphalt
I hate them all for they mark the place
the day
the moment
he fell
became still
became soft & warm & gone
I memorized his face with my lips
with kisses
I wanted to ingest every part of him
they gave me time
I was allowed all the time I needed which could never be enough
I needed more time
to fight with him
to make love
to raise our kids
it wasn’t enough
we were just getting started
it is never enough
how could it be
I memorized his face the day he died
I loved that face
I found a scalpel in the room
I cut his hair
I put it in my pocket in a glove
I was desperate to take him home with me
in my pocket
his hair
did you ever touch his hair
hair that was straightened
with great effort & vanity
in his youth
hair that looked wiry
but was soft as a kitten
he was soft as a kitten
he was not an unfeeling man
not a fierce man
a kitten
soft
too tender & kind for the viciousness of this world
of musicians & teachers & parents who betrayed him
of those who didn’t get it
didn’t get him
didn’t have the courage to love & forgive & walk higher
as he did
I saw it
so often
the higher road in this man who lived a lower still life
I will not idolize the man
I love him and know his frame
I know that he was frail & clay & broken
he was also strong & brave & wonderful
a laugh waiting to happen
arms to hold me through any dark day
the fastest hands I’ve ever seen
I memorized his hands on the day he died
the left slightly wrinkled & discolored from electrocution so long ago
I wish he had told more people about that miracle of the hand of God
thirty feet up
saving his life
at age 13
by why not 50
where was His hand at age 50?
I memorized my man the day he died
the man I had looked at so many times
in love
in anger
incredulous
in wonder
in awe
in hope for great things
for our destinies
I placed my face on his face
my lips on his cheek
by body on his body
that day
they gave me time
all the time in the world
not enough time
I tried
to take
him home
I called to his spirit
to reenter his body
his heart began to beat
we were electrified into action
I called
he heard me
I know he did
like life
bob? Bob? BOBBY? Can you hear me?
What are you DOing?
Would you PLEASE come here?!
I need your help
What were you doing?
What took you so long?
WHAT are you doing? Can’t you HEAR me?!
So frustrated
so many times
I was
wanting him to come
to HEAR me
I believed that day
the day he died
I was like a child who just KNEW santa claus was coming
that their dad was invincible
that teachers lived inside the schoolbuildings & never went home
I knew all these things
based on stories
and meeting dead men raised up
and my own insides churning
I didn’t have to try to believe
I just did
and he didn’t come
and yet I believed
I memorized my life the day he died
I memorized my future the day he died
like multiplications tables
and spelling bee words
and lines in a script for a dry run through
I memorized facts & figures to guard my heart
I memorized
I memorized
I lingered
I hoped
I longed
I cried
I died the day he died

If the Holocaust (Shoah) never happened, then...

why did the UN General Assembly adopt Resolution 60/7 on November 1, 2005? This resolution established January 27th as the "International Day of Commemoration in Memory of Victims of the Holocaust"? In 2006 the UN Secertary General said, in part:

There can be no reversing the unique tragedy of the Holocaust. It must be remembered, with shame and horror, for as long as human memory continues. Only by remembering can we pay fitting tribute to the victims. Millions...were murdered in the most barbarous ways imaginable. We must never forget those men, women and children, or their agony...Holocaust denial is the work of bigots. We must reject their false claims, whenever, wherever, and by whomever they are made.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I hope the UN remembers their own words. Pass this on.

Michael update :)

I was in the living room painting pictures of God & angels & Daddy & Griffin (from Moravian Falls, NC) & Hadassah with Hadassah & I could hear Michael in his room. Couldn't tell if he was laughing or crying. So I went to investigate.

This is what I found: Michael listening to a Graham Cooke CD (...you MIGHT be a Pharisee if....) from Summer of 2006 in VT AND watching "Home Alone" at the same time & laughing hysterically rolling around on his bed! What a wonderful thing. Thanks to those who are praying specifically for him. We love you. We are not "Home Alone" after all.

Wine Cellar update Enfield CT

Hello everybody,

I am writing to inform you that we are going to seek out a building and begin having meetings every week. We will not be able to meet at the house any more. There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is that we need to make room for a harvest. We will call this place "Freedom House." You may have received an intro email about this a while ago. We took a sabbatical after Bobby went to be with Jesus and got mentally and spiritually rested and refueled. Circumstances are very hard, but it is time to release the sound of heaven in new dimensions, to realize our destiny in Christ, and to advance the Kingdom.

Now is the time! This fresh beginning is a leap into the next level of ministry. We have a vision to prepare for the habitation of Jesus, to advance the Kingdom in Enfield, and to tap the glory fountain for the region. There's a great deal of people that need the Lord in this town and I want them! This town was visited by the Lord through the ministry of Jonathan Edwards, a mere man with a big thirst. We all have a big thirst as well and together we can tap that well and stir up a gusher.

Since we have not had a meeting for a while, I am asking all of you for feedback on this. Meetings will either be Saturday nights or Sunday (either mornings or afternoons); it depends on the availability of the building we rent. The building will be in Enfield. We will also plan to have once a month conference events with guest speakers from all over the world as we have done in the past. I am a strong believer in having anointed men and women come and give us fresh bread to keep the well open and flowing. We don't want to become stagnant and isolated from the rest of the body, which is why these meetings are also intended for the regional body to attend. We love you all deeply and have cherished memories of how God poured out His spirit upon us at the Wine Cellar. He has called us to restart our engines and He is ready to pour out even more at Freedom House!

Please give me your thoughts on this and let us know if you are ready to worship with us again, as this is a big step, and without each of you it is not a step we can take. Also, let me know your preferential day so that I can try to arrange it; however, please stay open to whatever day it happens to be because of the limiting parameters surrounding the rental.

God bless you guys, we love you deeply,

David and Judy

Micah 2:12

I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men

Micah 2:13

The breaker is come up

before them:

they have broken up,

and have passed

through the gate,

and are gone out by it:

and their king shall

pass before them,

and the LORD on the

head of them.
Behold, the Lord's eye

is upon those

who fear Him

who revere

and worship Him

with awe!

Let's pull together and call forth
that which is not as if it were.

IRIS Ministries/Mozambique flooding update

Please read. Not just for prayer but because it will open our eyes to what is happening n the world. The house of cards is collapsing. For those who believe, this is good. Come come come. Get into the Ark of His Kingdom :) Mimi

Once again Mozambique has been hit by severe flooding. Few countries in our modern world have been hit by disaster so often and devastatingly. Already one of the poorest countries of the world, it struggles without the mechanisms of modern countries that can deal to a great extent with regional weather fluctuations, food shortages and medical emergencies. Its transportation infrastructure barely exists. There is hardly any safety net for the poor. Much of the world suffers from "compassion fatigue," and well-known relief agencies in Mozambique struggle with funding and distribution challenges. Christians hardly know what to do with still more pleas for financial help. We are all tempted to run and hide, and try to find some protection from all the assaults on our peace in this world. Forces of evil seem to get away with so much.

But we are not helpless, and even in our weakness we find strength. We have a source of never-ending goodness and energy. This source is not impersonal and remote, unlikely and sporadic. No, this source is a personal and perfect Savior, the only person who can make sense of our lives in this world. He makes Himself available to all who call upon Him. And to those "who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life" (Rom. 2:7).

Rather than seeing discouragement on all sides, we preach power and total salvation in every circumstance. Every disaster leads us to lean on our Savior all the more, and to depend on Him alone. Our joy is to be able to encourage believers everywhere even while facing the most overwhelming damage done by the enemy. In such situations, we cannot afford to be doubtful and down, depressed and immobile. No, in every circumstance we are called to be "more than conquerors through him who loved us" (Rom. 8:37). If we look into His eyes, there will always be enough, because He died!

As I write, Heidi is returning to Mozambique after an Asian speaking tour, and with me she is seeking the Lord about our response to the flooding. We have seen the churches of Mozambique explode in number and fervency after previous major floods, and we look forward earnestly to what Jesus will do now. I am in the States, and will be there as soon as possible, accessing flood regions with my plane as Jesus leads.

Meanwhile, our missionaries in Malawi, David and Joanna Morrison, are at work. Their location is not far from central Mozambique where the flooding is worst, and David has already visited this flood zone and written a report, which I would like to quote here at length:

"We went to Mutarara District in the province of Tete and there learned that over 116,000 refugees have fled the flood waters. Thousands are still trapped on higher ground waiting to be rescued by helicopters and boats. All resources are concentrating on this emergency rescue operation. Soldiers are assisting rescue workers as the banks of the Zambezi River continue to overflow and the threat of increased flooding is very real. For some, the idea of floods penetrating so far inland
from the Zambezi River is too obscure. However, the threat is real and in some situations people are removed by force.

"I was amazed at the vast amount of water and its destructive force. From the vantage point of a boat on the Zambezi River, it looks like an endless sea. We traveled with the Mozambique navy in a little rescue boat several kilometers inland from the Zambezi River to one of the areas of evacuation, called the Inyangona region. The reality of the cost of the flooding was evident everywhere: the tops of drowned crops and banana trees, and even the roofs of houses. It was hard to imagine how just a few weeks previously people had walked where we now traveled by boat. And now, village life has been silenced by a sea of water leaving only protruding tree tops and isolated highlands. We finally arrived at an island where desperate people patiently wait for a rescue boat. Helicopters were also flying overhead and assisting in the evacuation of people in more remote areas. There is calm and out of the misery, the people politely greeted us with a smile, gave us the nicest places to sit, and at one refugee camp I was even offered their last bananas -- I just wanted to cry.

"Our Iris Team met with the District Commissioner and was invited to join the weekly debriefing meeting involving all the government officials and NGOs helping with this crisis. Although there is great progress in the rescue operation, the process is time consuming and more boats are needed. Some of the refugee camps are now becoming too large and it may be necessary to establish even more camps. Some of the resettlement areas from last years flooding must now be relocated because they too are being affected by the flooding. Sickness and hunger are two growing concerns and the DC encouraged us all to try to mobilize food into the camps as quickly as possible. We have been appointed to participate in the relief effort and have been given freedom to assist however possible.

"On our journey we visited eight refugee camps all of which are threatened by disease and hunger. Some of the refugees have been in the camps since the beginning of January but none have received food. Many left in haste as their homes collapsed in the path of the rising water. A fortunate few had carried maize left over from last winter's harvest, but most are eating grass seed, water lily bulbs, bugs and mice. Wells are few so most drink the flood water which is resulting in dysentery. Many children have bloated stomachs and eye infections are common. This is malaria season, an added threat for the refugees who sleep without the protection of a mosquito net.

"In each camp we witnessed the arrival of new refugees. Hundreds are arriving everyday. They are quick to make a shelter out of branches and grass to provide a little protection to the family from the next rain. These tiny houses sleep families as large as eight people. We didn't take much with us, but managed to carry enough soap to give one bar to each family at three refugee camps. We also provided about 500 families with a good supply of water purification packets. A bar of soap is such a precious gift in situations such as these!

"Everywhere we went desperate people quickly gathered and listened carefully to every word that came out of our mouths -- they were in search of hope. We gave them hope -- the message of God's love. So as we preached under the shade of a tree in the refugee camps, the precious poor, those who have lost everything, wearing only dirty rags, welcomed Jesus just like they welcomed us. There is good news to report: In the midst of great suffering and loss, Jesus is moving in the hearts of Africans!

"So what are we going to do next? The only accessible road into this region of Mozambique is through Malawi. We are therefore prepared to help in any way possible. Actually we can't help but help! We believe God wants us to care for the refugees located in camps along the road from the border of Malawi.

"Malawi is also affected by the flooding. The swollen Shire River has destroyed crops and hundreds of people have been displaced. People living on Nchalo and Ngabu Islands in the Chikwawa District are evacuating - about two thirds of the islands are under water now. Across the river from Bangula is another area vulnerable to flooding. We are monitoring the situation here carefully and expect that we will need to support 1000 additional families with food from now through June. This is on top of the 1,600 families we already assist each month through our feeding program."

Already David "Mo" is loading up three trucks and leaving early Wednesday morning in a convoy to take seventeen tons of food to the flood area. Many have helped already, almost instantly, and we are pressing forward all the more to what lies ahead. Pray that corrupt Malawi officials at the border will not be able to block passage of the food.

Heidi and I, and all of us at Iris Ministries, want to thank our supporters who voluntarily have enabled us to do so much in Africa. We love the Body of Christ. We are proud of you, and look for what may be credited to your account (Phil. 4:17). Thank you for taking us to this point, and participating with us in the gospel and in the divine nature we share in Jesus. May you be richly, powerfully and lovingly blessed!

Much, much love, Rolland

More detail on my father...

Surgery is to repair the mitral valve & the tricuspid valve. They will know when they in there if the valves can be repaired or if they need to be replaced. Surgery is 2/20 in Pittsburgh. Dad sounded good & positive about having the surgery done sooner rather than in April. He just wants to get back to his active self again. I plan to go to PA a few days prior to the surgery & then be there as long as needed post-op.

In light of Heath Ledger's death...

We don't know for sure if it was a suicide, but from what little I've read tonight, I can tell he was hurting. Struggling with something. Not sleeping. Perhaps depressed. The meds he was taking could have made the depression worse. Some can have that side affect & people need to be followed closely if taking Ambien, Zoloft etc....in case the depression, sleeplessness worsens.

If you are feeling depressed, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reach out & let someone know. I have found 2 web sites...just his morning actually: To Write Love on Her Arms & You Are Loved...one is reaching out to those dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts & the other is simply sending a message that each of us matters AND IS LOVED. And you can always email me. I've been through drug addiction, ovarian cancer & the recent sudden death of my husband. I can pray. I can "listen". I am a great networker for getting those with a need connected to those who can meet the need. You may or not know me personally. But I know this: there is a Creator-God who does know you. Intimately. And though you may not understand the circumstances of your life right now, or why those things happened to you as a kid, God IS there. Life is a gift...even though painful. There are people who care without desiring to exploit you or your pain or your talent. Truly.

With so much chaos, heartache, death, violence & exploitation in the earth, let's start a revolution of compassion. Caring for one another just because we are human. Made in the image of God. And beautiful. Shalom.

Update on Dad

My father is scheduled for heart surgery on 2/20/08 in Pittsburgh. I will be returning to be with him a few days prior to that time. Not sure if it's open heart or arthroscopic.

Tu B'Shvat & William Wilberforce

Say the name of this Jewish holiday out loud & someone may think you have sneezed. God bless you! Though it is little know, it is one of my favorite holidays & would be particularly attractive to all of you eco-friendly folk. Tu B'Shvat is the "Birthday of the Trees" or the celebration of God's incredible creation. I like this day, especially right now, because it is forward thinking. Hopeful. Life-giving. It is a day for eating as many fruits as you can(at least 15! good for detoxing your system. LOL). It is a day for planting trees in honor of your children (cedar for boys & cypress for gils) and the ones who are no longer here with us(or starting seeds in pots if you live in colder climes as we do). Later the branches of your kids' trees may be used to make their wedding canopy (chuppah).

When Jews returned to Israel over 100 years ago, the land was pretty much a swamp. Then people from all over the world began to plant trees in the land via the Jewish National Fund & now there are over 165 million trees in Israel. In just 100 years. You can still plant a tree Eretz Y'srael thru this fund if you like.) This is big change that took time but has very far-reaching long-term effects.

As did the life of William Wilberforce. Yeserday was Martin Luther Kind Day so I watched a movie about a white Englishman from the late 1700s. (Amazing Grace). Why?! The work of Wilberforce & former slave Olaunah Equiano, whose autobiography sold over 50,000 copies, made change that was far-reaching & long term & like the growth of a tree, took MANY years & great perseverance to achieve: Wilberforce, almost singlehandedly, because of his deep & vibrant Christian faith, drove the movement to end all slavery in his day & age. 2007 was the 200th year anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Great Britain. It took many years through incredible obstacles but he & his supporters persisted. One man. One passion. Fueled by the breath of God. Changed the world forever.

And according to the movie, "Amazing Grace" which I highly recommend (pretty kid-friendly too), Wilberforce liked to leave his mansion & sit outside under a tree to talk to (as well as listen to) God. It's where he received much of his inspiration & rehearsed the speeches he would give before the movers & shakers of his day.

FYI: the song "Amazing Grace" is the most well-known song in the world & was written by John Newton, a slave-ship operator for 20 years, who had an encounter with God that changed his life & his politics. "Amazing Grace" was an attempt to express his sorrow & repentance of supporting the slavery of other humans beings. Newton was an inspiration & mentor for William Wilberforce.

Which brings me back to trees. A little story. An old man is planting a tree when a young boy comes along: The boy says, Why waste your time planting a tree? You won't ever get to eat it's fruit. It takes too long to grow. Plant something else like a tomato or flower that you can enjoy this year. The older man said: Well, that is a nice idea & that would be a blessing to us. But I'm planting this tree for my children & my grandchildren & my great grandchildren & all those who will come by this way in the future. I'm not thinking of myself; I'm thinking of them.

Am I thinking of those who will come after me? What kind of "seeds" am I planting? What long term effects will those seeds have? Will my legacy bring good fruit? Shade? Rest? Inspiration? Or will it wither & be gone when my season is over? I think of my husband Bobby who has left many good seeds & much good fruit behind him. A legacy of laughter, creativity, music & deep love.

Some thoughts as the sun rises here in the Northeast USA. Shalom.

Go set someone free & then plant a tree in their honor!

URGENT prayer for my Dad 1/21/08

I learned to day that he has Stage 4 leakage from his heart valves. He is seeing the docs in Pittsburgh today (January 21). My sister is with him. The meeting is to determine how soon & what type of heart surgery needs to be done. In light of everything happening in our family, we would like a miracle of healing. Not another sad event.

Michael needs....

prayer. He is in deep places of grief & missing Bobby these days. I won't go into detail here because it is his journey & I want to respect his privacy. But please cover him with Abba's love. We begin "The Garden" sessions later today. I pray that God meets us all there.

Death of 2 relationships

Shabbat shalom from home. I was thinking about how with the passing of my husband that another death has occurred: the death of my relationship with God. Are you freaking out? Don't. It is the end of the relationship I had with God before Bobby died. I wouldn't say that I ever had a "Pollyanna" relationship with God expecting to be tiptoeing through the tulips in BLISS all my days, though since I went from a drug-addicted atheist to a very intensely personal & real relationship with my Creator, I had certain expectations of Him. My life has not been easy...not at all. I didn't expect it to be. I've always said that being a believer is the toughest job you'll ever love (like the Marines Holly :). But in my child-like heart, I never imagined anything as painful as losing Bobby being allowed by my Abba. And here it it. Here we are, another bittersweet Shabbes, without his beautiful physical mocha presence. His work-weary smile, harmonizing with me & the kids to sing the blessings & do a "group-hug" & lay his big warm hands on his children's heads (as well as the neighbors' kids if they were there that night & whoever else was joining us for dinner.) Then we usually dug into some wonderful delicacy that he made :)

All of this has brought the death to my relationship with Yeshua, as it was, because of this completely unexpected, unanticipated event in our lives. Why? So many whys? I hold God at arm's length these days yet my spirit clings to His. But He can handle it. He will woo me again. He came to me when I was in a hungover drunken stupor many years, heart hardened, callous & unbelieving & there, in that place, He melted me. I wait for Him to do it again...for the new. For myself. For my children. For tikkun olam. For eternity. With great love.....M.

The Garden Center for grieving children...

The kids & I have joined a support group, which will begin this sunday, called "The Garden." It is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that focuses on the grieving process for children & teens. We'll be going every other sunday until the end of May. The center uses creative ways to help kids (and their parents) journey through their grieving process. We had our intake interview this morning with the facilitator, Shelly Bathe Lenn. I felt hopeful about the experience. It is helpful to sit with those who are experiencing the same kind of loss. Words aren't adequate & aren't always necessary. The groups are closed in order to foster relationships, a safe place to be & confidentiality & the program runs for 15 sessions sept - may. We "just happened" to connect with them at the time they are letting new families join :) a HUGE THANK YOU to Todd Crossett (Isenberg School of Business Management at UMASS & Key Players project leader) for telling me about this group last week.

The participating families pay what they can, IF they can & no one is turned away because of inability to pay. If you would like to make a donation on behalf of our family, contact Shelly Bathe Lenn at 413 584 7086 ext 124 The operating cost for the program is about $150 per child. Both Michael & Hadassah will participate in groups with their peers. With a grateful heart, Mimi

How Bobby & I met.....

I'm sitting here tonight, wearing a pair of Bobby's jeans that are not as baggy on me as I would hope...feeling a myriad of feelings. Our 12th wedding anniversary would have been this sunday. I have felt the intensity of this time even before being conciously aware of the date, the time, the season.

I first want to say that my wedding was the BEST wedding I've ever attended. I hope all brides can say that :) I had more fun & felt more love, joy & presence of God than at any other gathering of that kind in my life (though the day we celebrated Bobby's life last summer was, amazingly, a close second.) The food seemed supernatural, we danced, we partied, we sang to one another & jammed with our family & best friends...in a blizzard in a country club in Greenville, PA. The maitre'd was healed of some physical ailment during the ceremony (which was also in the country club) & came to us with tears during dinner to tell us so.

Tonight I'm thinking of the way we met: It was 1989 & we both worked for Prime Computer in Natick, MA. I worked in HR; Bobby was in CAD/CAM. We were in completely different buildings. I was very new in my relationship with Yeshua & I was friends with a great bass player named Tom Doran who also worked at Prime. I shared my experiences with God with Tom pretty freely to say the least! One day Tom said to me: Mimi, you've GOT to meet this guy over in Building 10. He's a musician and a "Jesus-Freak" just like you!

So Bobby called my extension (or I called his I can't remember...) & we met for lunch at a little restaurant called "The Villa." Bobby was married at the time so there was nothing romantic in our meeting BUT GOD had Bobby "read my mail" that day. (Many people I know had similar experiences with him). The things he said to me that day opened up a part of my heart that had been very damaged by my own bad choices & what others had done to me. Because of my past,I believed, TRULY, that I did not deserve to have a husband & children. But the day I met Bobby, who knew nothing about me, he spoke into that part of my life & God took over doing the rest.

We became friends & stayed in touch until he & his ex-wife moved to Texas. I didn't have contact with him again until May of 1994 after he had been through a divorce he did not want. BUT GOD had other plans for him...for me...which neither of us could have guessed.

He returned to CT & while there he tracked me down through one of my best friends. I was in Ohio. We talked over the phone for 6 MONTHS! and during that time, God built our friendship into a romance which led to Bobby coming to Ohio..December 1994 & asking me to marry him.

No marriage is perfect; ours certainly wasn't. But we worked hard at it & loved each other intensely, fought passionately & felt deeply about the things that mattered most to both of us: God, our children & extended family, friends, music, living with integrity, kindness & generosity. Bobby was one of the gentlest most generous men I've ever known. Sometimes I think this world was not a kind enough place to be able to keep him here...I hope this blesses someone today....with tears & great love, Mimi

Message for 2008

When I was singing on New Years Eve in Columbia, SC with MOWpeeps: "Prepare... for what I'm about to unleash on the earth...", I saw an enormous banquet table. It was completely bare except for a perfectly white tablecloth covering it. It means a couple of things to me: the slate is not only wiped clean but it completely new, virginal, untouched . What God is about lay on the table is brand new, not yet seen, yet something completely delicious and worth every moment of waiting , suffering and persevering. (I have this thought over and over about the coming year: make no assumptions based on what we think we know or past experience but STAY OPEN.) It is untouched by human hands. HE alone will set this table before us, in the presence of our enemies no less! We can feast and revel in it. There is room for EVERYONE at this table and lastly: the table doesn't just represent what God is doing in the earth, but it also represents the human heart made new IN HIM and HE feasts there with us. Yum yum. It is a glorious thing and we are GLAAAAAAAAAAD !!!!!!!! Eph. 3:20 glory to Him because He is able to do such things. He is mighty and awesome ...wow. Love to you all from us
